Environment Policy

Landbuild’s environmental policy aims to ensure that at all times, the adverse impact of the Company’s activities is minimised – and where possible, these activities provide a positive benefit to the environment. To this end, employees are required to observe the following policy action points:

  • All staff must observe the environmental instructions set down as part of each project’s Site Programme.
  • Whenever possible, when sourcing materials, preference is to be given to recyclable and/or ecologically-originated items. Where this has adverse financial impact, the Managing Director is to be consulted before any purchase is made, or as soon thereafter as possible.
  • Materials left over upon completion of a task should be retained or returned to store or the provisioner and should not be discarded.
  • Disposal of waste is to be only at local authority landfill sites.
  • When using Company vehicles and machinery, every effort is to be made to minimise mileage or running time as applicable. To this end, routes are to be pre-planned and duplicated journeys avoided. No machinery is to be left idling where this is unnecessary.
  • All Company vehicles are to be common rail diesel engined to minimise adverse environmental impact; all speed limits are to be observed.
  • Company policy requires the hire of silenced compressors to minimise noise pollution and the use of electric not petrol mixers.
  • In the event that an employee, during the course of their work, has reason to think that their work may be unacceptably damaging or hazardous to the environment in any way*, that employee should stop work immediately and advise the Managing Director of their concern. (*e.g. unexpectedly uncovering a wildlife habitat etc.)
  • Trees and hedgerows are of particular concern and preservation orders are to be rigorously observed. Where any doubt exists, no precipitate action is to be taken.

All employees are actively encouraged to support this policy and to suggest other measures which might further extend it.
